Concepts Covered:
Quadrants:
- The x- and y-axis divide the coordinate plane into four quadrants.
- Roman numerals (I, II, III, and IV) are used to label quadrants.
- A point (x,y) where both x and y are > 0 is located in Quadrant I. Example: (4,6)
- A point (x,y) where x < 0 and y > 0 is located in Quadrant II. Example: (-4,6)
- A point (x,y) where both x and y are < 0 is located in Quadrant III. Example: (-4,-6)
- A point (x,y) where x > 0 and y < 0 is located in Quadrant IV. Example: (4,-6)
- A point (x,y) where either x = 0 or y = 0 is located on 2 different quadrants. Example: (0,6) is on Quandrant I and II
- The point (0,0) is located on all quadrants.
